Moin moin Gemeinde,

Talk to Rathgar this weekend. We both have DX6i's and have 4 3 position switches and 2 3 channel switches. The sticks on the DX6I are all 3 position. He took left and right channel off the throttle side, locked the left and right movement with a screw. Moved left/right to a 3 position switch to the upper left corner. Did the same to the up/down on the steering side and moved the switch to upper right corner. Now we have Throttle on the left, steering on the right(just like old school stick radio).
First off, this little trick will VOID YOUR WARRANTY, you have to crack it open and solder new wires for the new switches. We used the same 3 position switches from radio shack that was used on the DX3 mod, that is what gave us the idea. The original switches we left intact that we moved and are taped to the inside of the case. That way it is not a permanent mod. It will take some patience to do the soldering as they are little wires and everything is so close together. He also made the left stick spring up and down, locked the left and right movement. Right stick is sprung every direction. We use the up and down on the right stick for the winch, you can control the speed that way and still has the option of the switch if you like.
I use it on my scaler and comp rig. I now have more switches than things to use! Soon that won't be the case! HMMM Working lights, 3sp tranny, winch down.
Biggest issue I had was to buy a $200 radio and void the warranty before I even turned it on
